Thank you both to those who come back month after month to download a new desktop calendar and for those who are here for the first time. I appreciate you. I love hearing stories of where these calendars travel, so if you have one (a story or a calendar), feel free to leave a comment or email me through the contact link at the top of the page.
February’s calendar reflects the cover of my first book, The Beauty of Grace, which releases this Tuesday, February 3. I can’t believe the date is finally here! I hope it brings you beauty and a reminder of God’s sweet grace all month long.
I knew these daisies, which appear in the Mason jar on my book’s cover, were picked by my daughter and her friend from our neighbor’s backyard, but I didn’t realize how special they were until this week. I asked a florist for similar ones to use as decorations for my book launch party on Thursday, and after checking with his supplier he confirmed that these glorious daisies with the big yellow centers are “a thing of the past.” He can’t get them.
I asked my neighbor if she planted them and she said no, they grow wild in her yard. So they are natives of the Georgia farmland where my neighborhood grew, amid and around them, and I’m thankful some remain. This spring I may ask if we can transplant some into our yard, so we’ll enjoy bouquets in Mason jars year after year.
Good morning! Your story touched my heart. When I was a child, I would always stop and pick my mother daisy’s from a pasture that I walked by on my way home from school. To this day, daisies are my favorite flower. Always warms my heart with sweet memories with my mom. God’s Grace….. perfect !!
Teresa, thank you so much for sharing this with me. I’m so glad these bring you warm memories of your mother.
My daughter sent me your site as an uplifting moment. I take care of my husband of 85 yr. and married for 63 yrs who has dementia. This is the hardest job in the world. To see a loved one slowly forget who you are or where he is and have his dignity taken away. Thanks for your words of encouragement and hope.
Edith, you have truly touched me. Thank you for commenting. I’m praying for you this evening. Your husband is thankful to have you, and I’m sure you feel the same about him.
