Food photography can be fun. Sometimes I shoot food for recipe posts, but today’s photo was serendipitous, the result of a quirky arrangement of onions that I’d just chopped. I didn’t pose them, but found their form and symmetry visually appealing. Beauty in the mundane.
Later I printed and framed this photo in a grouping of three along with garlic and eggs; it hangs in our kitchen. I like to create art for our home. Everything shouldn’t come from T.J. Maxx!
The Edits:
- Crop.
- Convert to black and white.
- Tweak exposure.
- Increase contrast.
- Use Lightroom’s Adjustment Brush to completely darken the area around the onions.

This is great! I often do the same thing, just loving the colors of some berries in the colander they are draining in etc. 🙂 I’ve been wanting to do some food shots for my kitchen walls too… this has got me thinking again!
