This is my third straight year attending Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk, which is currently comprised of 1113 walks in 100+ countries. There’s no need to be intimidated by a photowalk: it’s a great way to get together with friends, meet new people, discover picturesque locations near you, or emerge from a photography slump.
Scott and the gang brainstormed to make the event even better this time: a cooler time of year and two days of walks. Check this page to find walks on both Saturday and Sunday of this weekend, October 1 and 2. I joined a Saturday walk; realized it conflicted with my mother/son campout this weekend; withdrew from that walk and joined one for Sunday afternoon.
Yesterday I called my husband and asked him to register for my walk. I’ve always gone on my own, but I thought it would be fun to do it together this time. (Honey, did you sign up?) Most walks wrap up at a restaurant for dinner, so I’m selling this as a photo walk/date night.
There’s no pressure to have the “right” equipment or creditials; it’s totally for fun, although you can win some seriously sweet prizes if your photo is selected by your walk’s leader as his/her favorite or as a finalist or grand prize winner from all of the walks. I would go with only a camera phone (and I’ll Instagram the event, for sure).
So what are you waiting for? Go see if there’s a walk in your area! (please come back and tell me if you sign up)
I signed up as soon as I heard about it. I’ll be attending in Denver, as there isn’t one in Colorado Springs. My friend is flying in from SD to go with me. So excited!! Will be fun to see all the pix.
Dianne, that’s awesome that your friend is meeting you. Have fun!
