Our three youngest daughters share a bonus room upstairs. It’s a large space, but unfortunately they’ve messed it up by trying to hang things themselves and touch up their own paint (yes, you read that correctly).
Kids’ bedroom walls just need repainted periodically: not only do they get dirty, the kids usually want a color change every few years. Now is the perfect time for us for the Glidden Gallons Paint Challenge.

I don’t look nearly so fresh here, in the middle of the wall prep process:
I’m happy to finally tackle this project. Isn’t the color gorgeous? It’s called Buttered Sweet Corn. Yum!
I’m contemplating painting the ceiling. Have you ever tried it? I have lots of questions: Should I use the same shade or slightly lighter? Would I need an eggshell finish rather than the semi-gloss that’s on the walls? Would my neck hurt so bad I’d need a chiropractor standing by?
If you can answer any of these questions, please leave it in the comments.

Stay tuned for the finished room makeover. I’m in the middle of it and hope to have it posted by this weekend.
What’s the last DIY you tackled?

that IS a pretty color! so soft and warm!
we don’t paint ceilings unless it is to refresh the white paint. we love to change up wall colors and it would be entirely too much trouble to have to paint the ceiling every time you wanted something new and fresh on the walls! my neck, back and arms just couldn’t handle it. just thinking about it makes me need a massage!
This ceiling comes down low in places—it’s a funky shape over the garage—and parts of it really look like they need painted. I just haven’t convinced myself to do it. 🙂
Good luck! Looks like you’ve got your work ahead of you! Can’t wait to see the finished product!
They make ceiling paint! It is great! It goes on pink, but dries white. And you use a long handle on the roller. Not so bad!
I have painted my ceilings before. I’ve used the same color and different colors before. I prefer the same color as the walls because it makes the room look bigger, if that’s what you’re going for. A darker color will make the room look smaller. I used a roller with an extension attached (I used a broom handle that I twisted the head off of) and it wasn’t hard at all. Watch out for splatters though because they will come down on top of you.
Painting the ceiling white or a lighter coordinating color add dimension to a room and will make it appear bigger in most cases. Flat paint is usually good in a bedroom for a ceiling. Glidden suggests Cornflower Bouquet as a possigle accent color. Good luck!
