If you’ve been a mother for long, you’ve learned that some Mother’s Days are extra special and some aren’t much different than an average day. I’m happy to say that today was the former.
My kids gave me the sweetest gifts: hand-painted pottery; a baseball signed “to the best mom ever;” handwritten love notes; a blouse that they’d seen me admire. The most memorable wasn’t a present in the traditional sense, but it made this a truly treasured Mother’s Day.
My youngest child joined the church and was baptized. She was quicker to the baptistry than me, and I found her at the top of the stairs looking down at the water, eager.
Another couple were baptized today, too.
You wouldn’t think the day could keep getting better, but it did. My husband surprised me with a date and some “me time.” He checked me into a hotel, took me out to dinner and a movie, and then went home with the kids.
Yes, I’m sitting in my very own hotel room at 1:30 in the morning, downloading and uploading pictures, writing, and sipping wine. In the morning I’ll eat a hot breakfast, read, and maybe go to the Apple Store or out to lunch with a friend.
I’m enjoying the quiet. It’s entirely possible that I have the best husband ever.
What did you do for Mother’s Day?
WOW! What a day you had. You are a wonderful Mother and your husband is so sweet to do all of this for you. 🙂
I love these pics Dawn! The last one of your daughter leaving the water is wonderful. . the water is glistening. . such a beautiful moment and a beautiful picture!
Enjoy your “momma” time. It is precious! I know!
Blessings to you!
I am sitting in this hotel room reading, writing, and watching the clock as I count down my last 2 hours! 🙂
Vicki, he is such a sweetheart. I am blessed!
What a blessing! She is so precious….reminds me of when my daughter join the church.
Carrie Lynn, my nickname for her is “Precious.” 🙂
It was just such a sweet moment. She’s my baby, and now all of them have joined the church.
My best-husband-ever also sent me on a getaway – with my bestest girlfriend, to a hotel for the night, gift cert for dinner, ‘day spa’ complete with massage, facial, & pedicure in the morning, and gift cert for a lovely mother’s day lunch. Then home & loved-on by the seven young lives that make this day my day after all…
fun, relaxing, cherished, pampered, ahhhh!

So. beautiful. Dawn….
Every, every blessing, friend!
Dawn – these are some of the most amazing baptism photos I have EVER seen! Got tears paging through them and explaining them to my three and half year old.

Dawn, what a blessed Mother’s Day you had this year! I love your pictures of Lilly! I’m happy for your family Dawn.
My day was spent with my dad, while Steve went to see his mom. For dinner, Brian, Amber and Jenny went with us to Cracker Barrel in Canton, which was nice and relaxed. I’m thankful.
