Slow Cookers are a necessity of life for busy families. Happy are the evenings when I take the time to fill ours in the morning, letting it do the cooking for me. It makes me feel smart—like my act is together—to smell supper simmering all day, knowing all I have to do later is serve.
Owning two or more slow cookers is helpful, especially during the Christmas season. I was down to one at Thanksgiving (a mouse in our garage this summer chewed the cord on my second, but that is a story for another day), which made it tricky keeping both soup and apple cider warm.
A new, silver Hamilton Beach 5-Quart Portable Slow Cooker arrived today. As soon as I opened it, I knew we were having chili for supper.
My other slow cooker is also a Hamilton Beach. Two of my favorite features are the Lid Latch strap and the keep warm setting, both of which are handy when traveling. This new model has combined a gasket lid with the Lid Latch strap, helpful for reducing messy spills.
The Hamilton Beach 5-Quart Portable Slow Cooker is on Rollback at Walmart now for $14.88, but you can also win one here!

Two other giveaways are coming as soon as I can get them posted!
I LOVE this! Whoever designed the lid latch was a genius! This would totally simplify my busy life with 4 kids. Mmmm… soups, sauces, roasts, chili… I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!
I would love a second crockpot. I use the one I have alot and would love to be able to cook dinner and dessert at the same time.
Well, I have nothing else to do but cook gourmet meals! Ha. Ha. I’ve always wanted a bigger crockpot. The one I use is the small kind and I got it 20 years ago for a wedding gift! Now that my four kids are getting older and eating MORE, I need a bigger one!
I “liked” on FB!
I love the oval shape! I have a much older model that is circular, which makes it hard to put certain foods in it.
Wow, this is an amazing Crockpot! I love the size and shape. I have a crockpot on my Christmas list because the lid to my old one broke and I’m having to use a makeshift lid from a casserole dish at the moment. I love crockpot cooking and have an amazing stuffing recipe, it tastes so much better than in the turkey!
I totally could use another crock pot. Lots of kids, lots of cooking. The lid latch is brilliant…no more spilled meals in the van. 🙂
I would love to have a new, oval slow cooker! I’m still using a round blue one I got about 20 years ago, and a sleek, new model would make my day! Not to mention that my four hungry kids eat A LOT and I could sure use the larger size!
That is just a gorgeous addition to any kitchen! I love the lid latch… brilliant! It is so nice to put something in the slow cooker and not think about it again until it is time to eat! 🙂
OK, LOVE the lid latch. No more chili spilled in the van on the way to the hoe-down. My crock pot came as a wedding present 20 years ago! I would love a new one!
well, i do have a slow cooker that simplifies my life but this one is a LOT nicer looking than my old round dirty white one. i’d love to win!
I could totally use this! I’m a mom to a 3 year old and have 2 full time jobs so I can take care of my son and hubby who is injured…..

My crock pot cord was damaged also. I recently got a cheap new one but it does not have all the bells and whistles. Being a piano teacher, dinner HAS to be easy and this would really help.

This would be wonderful to win as my slow cooker gave out just before Thanksgiving.

This would definitely simplify my routine. It’s so hard to cook with a baby that wants to be held constantly and a toddler who demands attention.

I would be able to set up “dinner” before I go to class for me and my sister. It gets a bit difficult to cook right after she picks me up from class, before she needs to get to work.
I work 45 hours a week and have two active boys, not having to worry about spending hours in the kitchen for supper would be awesome. nickbug2000@gmail.com
would love to get this
I COULD MAKE A MEAL AND DO ALL MY OTHER WORK AT THE SAME TIME
This slow cooker would simplify my routine because I could throw dinner in, then go spend a few hours with my family
I have one slow cooker and having a second one, especially this very nice one, would great simplify my routine because I’d be able to make two slow cooker meals at once and freeze them. Thank you!

One could never have too many crockpots! Just think of all the meals that could be made in advance and frozen or shared with another family!
I could fix dinner in the morning & forget all about it till time to eat! I would be wonderful to have one of these!
I agree with Lisa’s comment…you can never have too many crockpots! I have 4 now, all different sizes, and use them regularly. The model you are giving away with the strap would simplify things because I often made things to transport elsewhere. The safety strap would mean less problems when on the go!
This would definitely help me with meal planning! If I could throw something in to cook before I left for work, I’m sure we’d end up getting less take-out because I’m too tired to cook when I get home!
I “liked” this post on FB (liz t. newsome)
I could really use this. The one I have is so old and small, a hand -me-down from my sis. I’d love to be able to cook bigger meals.
I need one of these – and preferably someone who can show me how to use it. I have a tiny one and burned a recipe in it – so I’ve been afraid to use it. 😉 Trust me, we have cereal for dinner WAY too much around here. My husband is going crazy.
Last night we ended up at Sonic and I had heartburn all night from the hashbrowns – all the while I was nursing a sore throat and feeling crummy. I couldn’t decide what was worse – the Sonic or the Sick.

Ours just died and we are so lost without it, especially on work and/or sports days! 🙂 It’s so nice to come home to an almost-ready meal.
PS. I read your travel post and we’re in Cheyenne… March and April are our snowiest months, so pack lots of warm clothes! Hopefully, we’ll have a “warm” spell and you won’t even need them 🙂
I think the lid latch is a great idea, because I AM the one who spills stuff at my house.
I would be able to plan dinners and get things done before my husband comes home

I’d love a slow cooker to have dinner ready for the familyafter a hard day at work. How decedant.
I could enjoy hot meals during the workweek as soon as I return home. I really like the thought of a stew simmering away and coming home to a ready to eat meal.
I could get dinner going first thing in the morning. Then when the kids got home from school, I could totally focus on them instead of trying to work on dinner. Very nice.

I am a huge fan of slow-cookers! I love to make beef stew in mine!
I do not have a slow cooker but sure could use one. We have 3 teen-agers, all with different schedules. It would be nice to keep supper warm for all of us, and a slow cooker could do that.
I don’t have a slow cooker that latches, so it would be ideal to take to potlucks because it would increase the dishes I could take.
We have soup lunches at work often and a crockpot that has a latch would be great….no worries about spilling my soup in the car!
I “liked” this!!
I would love to be able to set a meal cooking first thing in the morning when I get to up to be ready for my girlfriend and kids without me having to cook when I get home from work. A slow cooker would make dinner time much easier, and after working all day for minimum wage, it would be nice to not have to “cook” every night.
This would be perfect for my family. I’m trying to work full time and hopefully go back to school while raising two young girls by myself. This would certainly simplify my nights and my life in general.
I rarely cook because I don’t like it very much, but it seems that with the Hamilton Beach slow cooker, I can just throw everything in the pot and let it do the work for me.

I know the contest is closed, but just wanted to add my two cents to this because I used this slow cooker over the holiday at my sisters house. It is so big and heats up so quickly that it was hard to believe that I was using a crock pot.
