Jen at The Blah Blah Blahger asked, “I’ve got a question…when are we going to hear about the official launch of Dawn Camp Photography???”
Melissa Stover followed with, “i’ve got the same questions as blah blah blahger. i love hearing about your photo journey, tips and tricks.”
After owning domain names for over a year, I’ve actually got this project in the works! We have a friend who is a creative director and graphic designer who’s helping me—I obviously haven’t designed a concept for myself in all this time.
Now I have a question for you: Barefoot Blogs has sat idle for a year now. I have weekly requests to design, I’ve just been swamped with other projects and the class I teach; plus, my interest waned in direct relation to my increased interest in photography. Additionally, I dislike working with Blogger and that’s most of what I was doing at the time…
But… I’m currently working on a blog makeover for someone else and really loving the process again, especially the work in Photoshop. I don’t see myself designing all the time, but I like leaving the possibility open. I would probably do WordPress only.
So here’s my question: my current inclination is to combine photography and design into one site. What do you think?
If you like the idea, do you have a name suggestion for me? I have one, but it never hurts to ask. Firgs gave me the perfect tagline 5 minutes after I asked for ideas.

Melissa, that’s a fabulous quote: “it seems like my answer is more about me than you. that’s a blogger for you.” 🙂
I don’t want to combine it with this site, I was just wondering about combining photography and web design into the same site.
i think it’s a good idea. i’ve wondered about combining my blog and photog sites, but i just can’t do it. though, the more blogs you have to maintain the less time you have for other things. also, i find, i can’t do one blog well when i’m working on another. right now my personal blog gets my main attention. my photog site is just out there for information for locals who are interested in my work. i keep thinking if i put more into my photog site it might be a better way to get business.
it seems like my answer is more about me than you. that’s a blogger for you.
I know a few photography + design sites that are really elegant and well done. I don’t know if they do more of one or the other, but if you are considering keeping your design skills an option for the outside world, include it! Whose to say that you couldn’t drop it off altogether one day if you decide to!
I just wanted to drop in and say that I’ve always loved the heart behind your photography and I need another photowalk to see you again. ; )
I think design and photography go hand and hand. Good luck with your choice.
I think it’s a great idea, but have zero name suggestions. I think best when it’s super late at night or first thing in the morning. I am in the in-between mind-mush stage right now. 🙂
