After five days alone in the mountains with my husband for our anniversary, it wasn’t easy jumping back into the chaos of everyday routine. I’m thankful for our quiet time, especially the walk we took as we were leaving. We have a tradition of taking a leisurely stroll, playing in a stream, or a combination of the two as we make our way home from the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area.

We located the clearing with a small cemetery, rock walled on one side, that we found two years ago.

These last two show our botanical mystery. These are the fruit of a small bush in the forest. We didn’t see another like it. The top looked like the color and texture of a raspberry, spread into a petal-like shape. The underside had hanging irregular red berries. Do you have any idea what this is?
