My husband and I love movies, so I was excited to participate in the Date Night Challenge from Blockbuster Express. Could we create a date night for $25? You bet!

Our nearest Blockbuster Express kiosk is at the local Publix. I went online and checked their inventory, and was able to snag New Moon on the day it was released, plus Monsters vs. Aliens for the kids.

Making the reservation online enables you to complete the transaction and reserve the movies you want. I used my husband’s credit card number and he was able to easily pick up the movies on his way home: he just slid the card and the machine gave him the movies I’d chosen. Got a promo code? We like to go out for dinner and watch a movie afterward at home, and fortunately we have teens to watch our younger ones so we’re able to do this without a babysitter. The kids stayed home and watched their movie while we went to Chili’s for dinner. After coming home and putting the kids to bed, we completed the date night by watching our movie.

Evening total: $25 and some change.
