I’ve been asked to let you know about a special awareness and fundraising campaign from Macy’s called Come Together, the goal of which is to feed 10 million people suffering from hunger. Come Together invites the public to host special dinners in their homes, asking guests to pledge donations to Feeding America. Two lucky readers will win $25 Macy’s gift cards!
Come Together invites people to host special dinners in their homes and ask their guests to pledge a donation to Feeding America. In return, Macy’s will match these donations dollar-for-dollar until the total goal of 10 million meals is reached. I’m always looking for a good excuse to get together with my girlfriends. Saturday evening three dear friends and I got together for our own Come Together celebration.
There are three ways that you can get involved: Host, Give and Shop.
- Host– Friends and families across the country can host dinner parties from casual to formal, send invitations and manage party details including themes and recipes on www.macys.com/cometogether. In lieu of bringing traditional host gifts, guests are suggested to make a donation to Feeding America.
- Give – Donate $1 directly at any Macy’s register, one dollar provides dinner for seven.
- Shop – Macy’s customers can shop for the cause and get special savings in-store on this Saturday, October 17, when Macy’s hosts a national Shop For A Cause day. A portion of the $5 in-store ticket sales will benefit Feeding America.
How to Enter
If you could invite 5 people (dead or alive; fiction or non-fiction; bloggers included!) to your dinner party, who would it be? Tell us in the comments! Contest ends Sunday, October 25.
If you help spread the word via Twitter, Facebook, or blog, leave extra comments for each to get additional entries.
What a great cause! $1 feeds 7 people? I need to get on that feeding plan! If I could invite 5 people? I’d defintely say my husband’s mother since the kids and I haven’t met her. She passed away when he was 17. I would also invite my grandmother just so I’d finally get the chance to say goodbye. (I miss her) Outside of that? Jesus (for my obvious reasons to me), and two people who have no family to visit (a regular thing we do at holidays).

Just 5 people? I choose the people on my list for all different reasons: Brad Pitt, Oprah Winfrey, my mother-in-law (she’s deceased and I never met her), Princess Diana, and my grandma (I miss her).
