FOR TODAY, November 24, 2008 . . .

Outside My Window . . . it’s wet and dreary, but sometimes I kind of like those days, especially since we needed the rain.

I am thinking . . . that it’s so cool that my buddy LeAnn Rice is on the cover of the new P31 Woman magazine that came in the mail today. Beautiful picture of a beautiful woman, inside and out.

From the learning rooms . . . we are having a modified school week for Thanksgiving. We have a lot of homeschool products to test, so I’m concentrating on those, plus a review I need to write today.

I am thankful for . . . my church girlfriends. Last week we got a lot of extra time to hang out together thanks to two birthday parties and a church Thanksgiving luncheon for the seniors.

From the kitchen . . . 13-year-old son made spaghetti for lunch, and brownies are on the agenda for this afternoon. Unfortunately, although I issued a weight loss challenge to my husband, I appear to be sabotaging my own chances of winning.

I am wearing . . . jeans and a green Henley; still in my house shoes.

I am creating . . . a family slide show DVD for Christmas. Maybe that should say I am hoping to create a family slide show DVD for Christmas.

I am going . . . to buy The Elf on the Shelf this week. I think my kids will love it and we’ll start a fun family Christmas tradition.

I am reading . . . I finished a book geared toward teens that I’m reviewing today, and will start In the Shadow of the Sun King next, also for review.

I am hoping . . . for some good news about things my husband and I are each trying to do.

I am hearing . . . my son doing school on the other computer.

Around the house . . . the kids have been playing in the basement and doing some school on the computer. We’ve got an educational DVD about the Statue of Liberty for this afternoon.

One of my favorite things . . . vanilla caramels from Route 29. I won some from Nikki,’s Chief Mom Officer, and now I’m itching to order more off the website. They were just that good.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Thanksgiving at my dad and step mom’s house. We’ve hosted for years, but since my dad remarried this year (my mom passed away in 2004) they’ve inviting my sister and me, and our new step mom’s kids (and all of our families, of course). My sister got married this year, too, so this year we learn how to integrate lots of new family into the holidays. The good news is the everyone gets along well; I’m just glad for the chance to get to know my “new” family members better.

Here is picture thought I am sharing . . . red light/green light in the dark, at slow shutter speed, from our recent mother/son outing. Cool, huh?
