It’s time for another Bloggy Giveaways Carnival, and I’m hosting a series of Jane Austen-themed giveaways. If that’s right up your proverbial alley, subscribe to my feed to find out about additional contests this week!
(My second giveaway, two Jane Austen audio books, and my third giveaway, the A&E Pride and Prejudice 10th Anniversary Edition DVD Set are posted now, too.)
Tony, my contact at Sourcebooks, has sent me children’s books to review; being a Jane Austen fan, I couldn’t help but notice the extensive collection of Austen sequels that they publish. As a matter of fact, the folks at Sourcebooks are such Austen fans that they created the site Austenfans.com out of love and admiration for Jane Austen’s life and works.
I not only received two Austen sequels, but two to giveaway to a lucky reader, too!
First, is The Pemberley Chronicles: “The weddings are over, the saga begins.”
Second, is Women of Pemberley: “The Women of Pemberley follows the lives of five women, some from the beloved works of Jane Austen, some new from the author’s imagination, into a new era of post industrial revolution England, at the start of the Victorian Age.”
How do you win?
Leave a comment to enter, telling us something about why you love Jane and which book is your favorite!
Winner will be chosen randomly from comments on Friday. This contest is open to both bloggers and non-bloggers, but please use a valid email address when leaving your comment in order to be contacted.
I love Pride and Prejudice-I just love the language and the wittiness of the banter between Darcy and Lizzie!

Pride & Prejudice is my favorite book of all time as it is, and I just love how I get lost in her books! It is also fun to find other Jane fans (such as my Mother in law and sister in law) and we share books and watch movies together and discuss. Love it!

Oh my goodness! “Talented writer” doesn’t even begin to describe Jane Austen. It seems lacking some how… I love Pride and Prejudice. 🙂 Thank you for offering this give-away. 🙂
Pride and Prejudice is my fav. The language is what I love–the rhythm of it and how politely everyone spoke.

My daughter and I both love Jane Austen. In fact we are having a Jane Austen Birthday party for my daughter who will be 15. She even sewed her own Pride and Prejudice dress to wear to it. She is currently doing a homeschool study on her and her books. This would make a lovely addition to our Jane Austen library.
Blessings,

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite Jane Austen book.
There are so many reasons why I love Jane Austen. I think that one of the biggest reasons is that she has a wonderful writing style.
My favorite book is Persuasion.

I loved Pride and Predjudice. I love how I was entirely swept away into this other world when I read it.
Jane Austin was such an independant women, just love her books.
I just love Pride & Prejudice. While the confab between Lizzie and Mr. Darcy is quite enjoyable, Mrs. Bennet just makes me laugh as she goes squawking about, trying to set her daughters up in a good life. 😀

I think my favorite book is P&P, with Emma and Persuasion coming in a close second. Reading Jane Austen takes me back to a simpler time, and I so enjoy how she captures human nature so humorously.
Thanks for the giveaway!

Thank you for bringing these books to my attention Dawn! My DD and I are such huge fans of Jane Austen’s literature. We’ll surely buy these books even if we’re not one of the lucky winners. In fact I already added them to my Amazon wish list. 😉
I have to say Pride and Prejudice is my favorite because it was the first one I read and fell instantly in love. I love the richness of the characters and language. So many lively personalities to love. Jane’s independent side is very alive in her books too which I’ve always loved.
Blessings,
Melissa

Her writing is timeless! I love P & P especially when Darcy says, “In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.” I love it every.single.time. Great giveaway.

I was so excited, I tried to sub again and it wouldn’t let me! I’m actually at a disadvantage here – cuz I haven’t read any of her books (for shame, I know). That’s why I need them. Her movies are my favorite ever. I love the romance and wit of the English language back in her time. Such poetry!

What DON’T I love about Jane Austen. I’ve been trying to get my hands on any book that might remotely resemble a sequel of sorts to an Austen book. 🙂
As for my favorite? That would be a tough one. I really do love them all, but as of late, my favorite would have to be Persausion.
Well, today it is. 🙂

Pride and Prejudice is my very favorite. I love the way she uses language. I love herstrong female characters. I love the humor. I love how she managed to capture time periods and personalities.
I love that Jane Austen is one of those rare authors through whose books you can really find yourself transported to another time and place.
Reizas last blog post..CNN loses its ever-loving mind.
Austin is so REAL! Her characters are sweet and so full of detail. My very favorite character is Fanny of Mansfield Park, which is also my favorite book. The way she portrays the “false” lover is amazing–she had me fooled along with everyone but down-to-earth and true-hearted Fanny!

I love these stories. I have the movies but not the books.
My daughter is the Jane Austen fan in our house. She is a romantic at heart and I love sitting and watching the movies with her. The characters are just so real, you can’t help but relate to them, despite the difference in era and setting. My most recent favourite has got to be Persuassion.
You want me to choose a favorite?? Impossible. But I’d have to go with the first, Pride & Predjudice. Her books are real and timeless themes. LOVE her.
I love Jane Austen!! My mother in law just took all us ‘girls’ on a trip to Europe and you know Bath had to be a stop to go to the Jane Austen sites there! I think my favorite Jane Austen book for today is Pride and Prejudice but Persuasion is a close second.
What a fabulous giveaway! I love the way Jane Austen turns a phrase giving a pinch of humor with a bite of wry. She is the mistress of tongue in cheek.
My favorite is probably Persuasion, which I know is untypical P & P being most often picked. But Persuasion to me was about the sweetness of second chances and later seasons of life. When dreams you thought were past are now realized.

I adore Jane Austen! I own P&P and S&S, and my fav P&P is the one with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle! My daughter and I have watched it over and over. Emma is another good read. I bought another author’s version of what happens following the wedding, which was captivating, and helped to quench my thirst to know more about their lives together! I so enjoy this author! I only wish she were still around to write more for her readers!

I guess the main thing that I love about Jane is that her books are truly timeless. They made sense 100 years ago, and they’re just as moving now. And after rereading one of her books my English improves dramatically. 😛

Pride and Prejudice – just takes me to a more romatice slower paced time.
I love Jane because she was a ground-breaker and a powerful woman writer when women didn’t have much power. My favorite book of hers in Persuasion.
I love Austen, especially her sharp sense of wit. People who don’t read her books don’t realize how funny she was and how great she was at characterization.
i heart jane’s independence . . . her A-mazing writing ability!
i heart persuasion!

Pride and Prejudice, hands down. I read it at least once a year! Austen was so witty and real with her observations; she was believable.

I love her subtle humor, it is laugh out loud funny after you think about it a bit.
Pride and Prejudice is my favorite, by far. I think that Jane Austen makes her characters live outside of the scenes they are written in. We know the characters well enough to know how they’d react in other situations. They just really live.

P&P for sure. I like Emma too, but P&P is just more my style.
Pride and Prejudice is my favorite because when i first read it i was so swept away by the story and couldn’t put it down and wanted to find out what was going to happen next. It also opened doors to all the other wonderful Jane austen books.
I would love to win these for my neice…she really has a love for Jane Austen…so much so that I am thinking that I should pick up some of these myself.

Jane was one of the first successful female authors and her books have stood the test of time.
I love Jane’s work. Just the fact that her books have stood the test of time, and probably will continue to do so is amazing. I love how funny her work is, while at other times she has me in tears.
AS for my favorite work? Hard to say, but I’ll go with “Pride and Prejudice”, like many others. Who couldn’t love Mr. Darcy?

There are endearing qualities to all Jane Austen books…but Pride and Prjudice still tops my list!

Oh, what is not to love about Jane? I find her books fascinating for the restraint the characters (mostly) show during times of high emotion.
I have to say Emma! Love the characters! Thanks so much, my friends and I will all share these!
It’s really hard to pick a favorite! I love them all except for Northanger Abbey. I wonder if that could possibly be anyone’s favorite? I admit to a soft spot for Persuasion. The quiet suffering, the forebearance, and ultimate happiness long after anyone had dared to think it possible…

Oh, I would love to win this!! Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book. One of the reasons I love Jane so much is because I joined an e-mail group when I was 14 years old, doing a group read of P&P and met a bunch of fantastic girls with whom I am still friends 11 years later! We were all teenagers then and formed our friendship around Jane, but now we are grown women who still love Jane… and though our paths have taken us in many different directions, we’re still connected in ways we would never have been if not for Miss Austen!
Thanks for the chance to win! 🙂
I heard so much about Jane’s books, but I never had the chance to read any. Maybe this is my chance…
I love Jane Austin because her novels are timeless. Just change the settings and most of these stories could be happening today. My favorite Jane Austin book is Emma. Thanks for this great giveaway!
I love all of Jane Austen’s works, but in particular, Pride & Prejudice. The A&E series is perfect, but I’ve enjoyed the different approaches in some of the other productions also – the scenery and realistic approach in the recent movie with Keira Knightly was great!
