I just read this post which I linked from Large Family Logistics. I think the story is worth reading, if you’re like me and swear by Magic Erasers (and knock-offs of them). I’m still going to use them, but I’ll be more careful with the kids. I showed them the picture and talked to them about this; hopefully I didn’t give anyone any ideas. I just felt like I should pass this along…
I love my magic eraser.
I had no idea, thank for posting and liking that, definitely worth sharing.
Scary stuff, it just looks so innocent, just don’t use it on the skin and keep it away from children.
thanks, girl..I use these,too. WHo would’ve thought?
I saw this last week and sent a link to her post to my mom friends via email. I use these all the time.
I am usually not a fan of all the warnings these days. The “PC” world that we have all become afraid of our own shadow where someone can sue over “HOT” coffie. However I think this one is a valid case. I think a warning should be put on the box about your skin. NOw this does NOT mean that anyone else who does this has the right to sue. The company may have not know this, however it is still the parents responsibility now that this is out there, until a warning is posted.
FYI- This past weekend I unknowingly used a magic eraser to “gently” remove temporary tatoos from her arms. I by no means scrubbed her arms with it just a few gentle wipes and the tatoos were gone. She then went to school with no marks on her arms. TO MY HORROR…when she returned from school she had terrible “burn looking sore areas” all up and down her arms that had developed over the day while at school. I had to take her to the ER where they treated her for what they called “Chemical burns”. Some say they aren’t chemical, some say they aren’t abrasions, some say its an allergic reaction…WHO CARES what they’re labeled! Keep this product away from your children!!!! There should be some kind of clearly and largely labeled warning on the box that this product can cause “burn-like” injury to the skin (even if it just says for some people) so keep away from children. End of subject. Why isn’t the product safety commission looking into this and demanding some type of warning on this product? I took pictures on my phone and may try to download them. Even if you’re not sure these stories are real…take it from a mom who’s had a child injured…why take that risk?
Why in the halibut would you put something like sandpaper on your child’s arm to rub away a stupid temp tattoo????
What’s wrong with a little rubbing alcohol or soap and water with a washcloth….
why in the heck would you use a household cleaning product — and then indicate that the company is stupid for not putting warning labels on the product that say, “don’t use on your children’s skin…” i’m in shock
