While photographing my book It All Began in a Garden, I was determined to find the perfect rose. If you’ve ever tried to photograph roses, you may have noticed that many are more beautiful from a distance than up close. While walking, I found this beautiful bush in a neighbor’s yard and knew it was the one.
The owner was outside working in her yard and I stopped to ask if I could come back with my camera. She kindly said yes, although I’m not sure if she really believed I needed it for a book. I’m not sure I would have believed me either. I awkwardly maneuvered to keep these beauties out of direct sunlight and in the shade of my body on a hot, sunny day.
