This week is extra special at I Heart Faces. They are having a Blurb photo book contest and they want to see your favorite photo ever. Here is the tricky thing for me: it is divided into amateur and professional categories. All along I’ve assumed I would be amateur, but it says, “For the purpose of this week’s contest, we define a Professional photographer as someone who is paid for their work. If you are not being paid for any of your photography work, you can enter the Amateur category.”

I took pictures at a friend’s homeschool group program recently and two people paid me for some photos. Not as much as I spent for the new tripod I bought before that night, but I did get paid. My goal is to start a small photography business. I am taking pictures of two friend’s families in the next couple of weeks, and I ordered a light meter today. Now I need a cool watermark!

This photo of my five-year-old daughter (four at the time) is special to me and the only one I’ve given a 5-star rating in my Lightroom catalog. It got a comment from Scott Kelby on my photoblog, and will supposedly be featured in an upcoming Lightroom ad campaign (something I won’t fully believe until I see).

Good luck to all the contestants! This week should be a lot of fun.
