Tonight we stepped into the Middle Ages as my kids were dubbed Knights of the Realm and enjoyed an evening of chivalry, rivalry, and revelry at Medieval Times in Atlanta. Comment on this post for a chance to win four tickets for your family!
Knight Training
This Spring Break, kids between the ages of 5 and 12 are invited to Knight Training, a weapons demonstration by the Medieval Times knights and the Weapons Master. They will learn about the grueling training it takes to become a knight and upon completion of their training, your children will be knighted by His Majesty King Carlos in a group knighting ceremony.
This special training class is only available April 7–10. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with training at 6:30 p.m., followed by a two hour show complete with jousting, falconry, and a four-course meal. Children must be between the ages of 5 and 12 to participate. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis for the first 100 kid and is open to both boys and girls. Closed-toe shoes are required to participate. All seats for these shows are just $29.95 with code SBGR. Book online at or over the phone by calling 1-888-WE-JOUST.
Surely You Joust?
{I’m not sure if that’s a bad pun or a sign of how long I’ve been married to my very corny husband.}
Our kids loved knight training, which lasted for 15-20 minutes. I forgot that they needed closed-toe shoes, so my eight-year-old daughter wore mine. They enjoyed the chance to wield swords and I appreciated the promise required of them not to use their new skills on anyone else. Heh heh.

My kids should be hoarse tomorrow from cheering for our side and booing for the other. Both girls caught flowers from our knight—the Black and White Knight—who ultimately won the tournament. We’re studying Medieval history this year in our Classical Conversations Foundations program, which made it even more exciting for the kids. My eight-year-old daughter told me that she wants to work at Medieval Times someday and serve food “or be a princess!”

This would be fabulous! Our 12yo will be too old next year, so I need to take advantage of this. We studied medieval times last year in history and in our Boys’ Club and ended with a feast. We weren’t able to go last year. I’m hoping this year will work out. Thanks for the chance!
My kids would love this!! Hope we win!
My kids were just begging me yesterday to go to MT! They met a man that uses to be a knight on the show and were fascinated at the idea!! What an amazing opportunity this would be for them!
We love Medieval times! To be able to learn to be a knight would be an awesome experience. My kids would love it!
This would be a sweet blessing to compliment our medieval studies. How fun!
That sounds super! My girls would love to be knights in shining armor and have been begging to go back to Medieval Times! Thanks for sharing the info, Dawn!
Duct tape weapons and battles wouldn’t compare to this. My 2 knights would love to swing some swords. Thanks.
Dawn, this looks super fun, never heard of this! Craig just recently made them swords out of real wood, covered with foam! The boys would LOVE this event!
M family loves MT! We would love to be part of this special event. Thanks!
We have never been! Sounds like fun!!!
We are studying the Middle Ages now too. We would
love to go- never been.
Thanks for hosting– looks like loads of fun
I WOULD LOVE THIS! I’ve been to the Dixie Stampede in Gatlinburg a few times, but haven’t been to this show, and it’s pretty much across the street from my office. 🙂
A trip into a child’s imagination would be an enjoyable event. My children would be ecstatic to attend this special event. Winning these tickets to the Knights Training at Medieval Times would be a wonderful opportunity for them to once again use their active imaginations.
Blessings,
~Debra
