This photo also comes from our 25th anniversary trip to Cades Cove in Tennessee (see other photo on Day 18). I like to photograph old things, like the broken wagon wheel embedded in the ground and want the photo to look aged, like the subject itself. I don’t often edit in sepia, but it feels appropriate for this image and seems to draw out light and texture.
The Edits:
- Increase contrast.
- Apply Sepia Chic preset from Presets Heaven, a free download for Lightroom 2 0r 3. See Day 3 for tips on using older presets in Lightroom 4.
- Tweak exposure.
- Apply vignette (darken the edges).
