Camera Phone Friday #68

1. Hibachi date night last night. I think those cut outs were for little kids, judging by the height and the chairs behind them. I could eat fried rice with those little seeds in it all day, which is why I had to break out the 30 Day Shred DVD after stepping, 2. Look what the daughter dragged in (bigger than he looks), 3. Thought of my Words With Friends pal @holleygerth when I grabbed these 😉, 4. Mermaid, 5. Photobomb!, 6. Sisters, 7. We keep finding nests & eggs this summer. Went back later & one was gone., 8. Summer toes, 9. Our latest pet #nofilter

I don’t know about you, but I’m holding onto summer for dear life. What happened to the first half of July?

This week I attended my Classical Conversations practicum, a fancy title for the free training and equipping sessions that parents and tutors attend each summer. I’m already overwhelmed at the idea of graduating another child this year! That stuff about the time flying by?

It’s all true.

Cow Appreciation Day @chickfila #cowappreciationdayWe dressed up and scored some free food at Chick-fil-a last night at their annual Cow Appreciation Day event. Does your family go? This year my 15-year-old was the only one who was too cool to be a cow.

If you’ve followed my exercise story this year you know I’ve been making steady progress from seriously awful shape to getting fit. Well, yesterday I jogged for a mile without stopping! I know that sounds like nothing considering the number of cars on the road with those 13.1 and 26.2 marathon stickers, but to me—in my hilly neighborhood—it was a big deal.

We live a mile from the front of our subdivision, so I walk to the front and jog off and on going home. There’s a really evil hill that I used to dread walking. This summer I’ve made myself jog from the front of the subdivision until I top that hill (the hill starts at the 1/2 mile mark, so I was jogging just over 1/2 a mile without stopping) and then I’d usually jog some more later.

Yesterday I decided that if I could top that hill, surely I could do the rest: one foot in front of the other and maybe, just maybe I could jog the whole way home. It worked! I can feel it in my outer hips and thighs today, but it’s a good kind of sore.

What have you been up to this week?
