Do you often feel like a failure in the motherhood department? Like there should be a big “L” stamped on your forehead? Like surely your kids would fare better with a mom who’s a little more, well, competent.
Do you tend to shoulder life’s burdens, forgetting to pass them to Him who promises to make your burden light?
Then honey, this book’s for you.
Kristen Welch’s Don’t Make Me Come Up There is a gift to frazzled mothers everywhere. She shares the nitty gritty details of motherhood in a way that speaks comfort and relief, and makes you realize that you aren’t alone.
Don’t Make Me Come Up There! contains 52 devotionals: stories, scriptures, and prayers. Motherhood is revealed in all its chaotic, beautiful, messy glory.
Here’s more from Kristen on why she wrote this book:
If you’ve ever wondered if it was safe to go into your child’s room, locked yourself in the bathroom for a personal time-out, or felt ridiculously proud and horrified (all in the same hour) at your children’s behavior, this book is for you.
I’m a mom. I’m not an expert on parenting (but I can nurse a baby while loading the dishwasher and clip tiny fingernails while reading a bedtime story!). I know how stressful being a mom can be: balancing duties, caring for needs, and loving them so much it hurts.
Motherhood isn’t for cowards. I’m so thankful Kristen wasn’t afraid to share her struggles, her heart, and her faith in this book. Visit her blog at We are THAT Family.

When I need a quiet moment I stay up to ridiculous hours of the night. It’s the only time no one talks at me 🙂
When I need a quiet moment I put a video on for my son and go sit on the porch to “walk” the dog. I take a few minutes to breath in the quiet and fresh air.
30 minutes in the tub… with the bathroom door locked…
Oh, I would love to have this! What do I do for a quiet moment when I need it? I declare a Mommy Quiet time…find something for the children to do….and go to my room with a big cup of hot tea….and sit in my white recliner by my window with a book or a blanket…and just relax. We do have a quiet time every day….and I get up 2 hrs before everyone….I have to…without that time, I have no peace….
The only “quiet moments” I get are in the wee hours of the morning when everyone else is sleeping! During those times I work on my website, digital scrapbook or read.
What I do when I need a quiet moment…..lock the bathroom door also helps if I give my son his DS video game to play.

Since my kids are older, if I need I just get in the car and go for a ride even if it is just to the grocery store. Of course, a side trip to Starbucks is always good!
When I need a quiet moment. I turn off the TV, Computer, and cell phone and grab my Bible, journal, pen and usually a drink. I go to my kitchen table and begin to read, listen and write.
I am so excited about this book and looking forward to reading it, whether I win it or buy it! My quiet moments are often at the very end of my day once the kids are in bed.
Walking outside enjoying God’s creation!
Now that my youngest is 8, I can escape the bickering by leaving the house for a quiet walk. I always come home feeling refreshed and able to jump right back into the craziness!
I make sure to get up an hour before my husband has to get up to get ready for work. It helps if I start out my day on the right track. My hubby also gives me 30 minutes to myself when he gets home from work. He understands the need to decompress and re-focus and doesn’t mind chatting with the kiddos to hear about their day. I usually go for a quick run then and have some good prayer time.
and I can’t wait to read this book!
I tweeted. @nikksworld thanks for the chance to win!
When I need a quiet moment I close the bathroom door and spend a few minutes praying before the bedlam starts.
