I’ve been keeping a secret from you, but now it’s okay to tell: iHeartFaces is sponsoring a nationwide photo walk, and I’m leading it for Atlanta! The event will be held on Saturday morning, June 5, 2010, from 9-11 a.m. beginning at the Oakland Cemetery Visitor Center and ending at Six Feet Under restaurant.
You may wonder why I chose a cemetery. Oakland isn’t just any cemetery, it’s a chunk of Atlanta history, with such notable “residents” as Gone with the Wind author Margaret Mitchell, and Joseph Jacobs, owner of the pharmacy where Coca-Cola was first served as a beverage in 1886. Three thousand unknown Confederate soldiers are also buried there.
Our walk already hit the 25 attendee limit after being announced this afternoon, but I am almost certain that I will have a helper, enabling us to add 25 additional spots.
Here’s the registration link for Atlanta.
Visit iHeartFaces for registration links for the other photo walk cities: Austin, Texas; Bisbee, Arizona; Boise, Idaho; Chicago, Illinois; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Columbia, South Carolina; Columbus, Ohio; Dallas, Texas; Detroit, Michigan; Las Vegas, Nevada; Louisville, Kentucky; Chaska, Minnesota; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Orange County, California; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Sacramento, California; Salt Lake City, Utah; Seattle, Washington; and Washington, D.C.

I just got tickets for my wife and I. This is the first time any of the I Heart Faces events have been near where I live, so I’m really looking forward to participating in this in June. See you all there! 🙂

You and Beth get to go on another photowalk together. Me = Jealous.
Y’all will have so much fun!
I wish Melissa (A Familiar Path) and I had worked together to get one here in Little Rock. Maybe next year.
Yes, Beth and I will be photo walking again! Mishelle agreed yesterday to help me lead the walk, which lets us add 25 more attendees. Woo hoo!
Y’all could do a great walk in Little Rock. Did I tell you I was born and raised in Ft. Smith?
yay! Hopefully I’ll be there, I bought a ticket even though I’m not positive I can be back from my family reunion in time — but my friend is going in my place even if I cant, so it wont be totally wasted! 🙂
Oh and Oakland cemetery is so pretty – I did a photo walk there not too long ago . . .

Renee, look forward to meeting you, too. Glad to hear the good review for Six Feet Under!
Matt, that’s so cool that you and your wife can attend the photowalk together. I’m a tiny bit jealous. 😉
Becca, that’s cool that you’ve already been on an Oakland Cemetery photo walk. Hope you can make it!
Morgan, don’t think you’re not a “real” photographer. David duChemin has written some great stuff about how the root of the word amateur is “amore” and many amateurs have more love for photography than pros. 🙂
Yeah, I’m glad she’ll be joining me. I’m also glad that I’m not going to be the only guy on the walk. I was worried there for a minute! 🙂
