Your Zone Room Makeover & a $500 Walmart Gift Card Giveaway!

When we were offered the chance to do a teen room makeover with Your Zone furnishing from Walmart, I jumped at the chance. My fourteen- and seven-year-old sons had inherited bunk beds that looked like they’d been attacked with pocket knives, originally belonging to my two oldest sons. Also, their room was still it’s original, unflattering shade of builder beige.

First, we went to this page where we were able to build a virtual room. My boys spent a lot of time here brainstorming furniture ideas and testing paint colors. We decided on two metal loft beds; a desk and chair; matching comforters, sheets, rug, and curtains; a desk lamp; picture frame; wall decals; and Walmart’s ColorPlace line of paint in Sour Apple.

    How neat! My favourite is the Aqua Geo/Iris Comforter set, so vibrant and pretty! All 3 of our daughters are in one room, and we had some water damage that has been repaired, but it hasn’t been repainted yet. That would definitely be the room we makeover. They would have such a blast!!

    I like the reversible purple dot berry comforter. If I win the giftcard I will do the master bedroom. Our son’s room is actually the only room in the house that is painted and truly decorated. I am ready for a makeover.

    I like the Aqua Geo/Iris comforter set. We have a 700-ish square foot house, so I can use all the help I can get! I think I’d start in our “spare” bedroom. We don’t have a garage or any storage spaces, so everything piles up in that room. I’d love to find good storage solutions so I could use that space as an extra bedroom/playroom!

    I like the Hot Chocolate Stripe/Brown Cane comforter. I’d probably redo my son’s bedroom if I won. Although, I would love to move our office out and convert that into a big bedroom for our twin daughters. That would require everyone switching rooms, though, so that might be a bit much.

    We would probably remake the room my 2 daughters are in – ages 12 and 14. Their room is 13 feet wide (a trailer house) and not quite 10 feet deep with 2 doors on the front wall – one to the hallway, and the other to a tiny bathroom. 2 1/2 feet of the room is a closet for the whole 10 feet – but it’s not functioning very well. The girls have been planning a room make over for almost 2 years. They want to do it up in pinks and purples and a bit of blue. They like the dots and the stripes for the beds. We aren’t sure about beds – the bunkbed doesn’t work well – and the ceiling is low, I’m short and I can almost reach it standing on the ground. So maybe loft beds… and maybe a bunk bed if it is smaller than the one they have. And then storage and lights in the colors that they like.

    I don’t know who would use this…it would either be a mix of all the bedrooms (a little something for each) or my parents can find some stuff that maybe they like. They never get to do anything like this so I’d love for them to have it.

    Wal-Mart has been wonderfully generous to bloggers as of late.

    I’m kind of a solid girl when it comes to bedding. I’d pick the reversible cobalt blue and light blue comforter, among the comforters.

    But if I had $500, I’d get the headboards for my boys. 🙂

    Our master bedroom is the next room on the list to get a makeover. More like an overhaul, really. A $500 giftcard would get us new sheets (I love the multi blue dot and blue wave comforter set) and much needed dressers for my husband and I.

    We would definitely redo my 11 year old son’s room. We have been putting it off for a while as we have been anticipating relocating for my husbands job – which has now come to fruition. With my son now an official “tween” he is becoming more involved and interested in his own personal style. He chose the Your Zone Reversible Comforter and Sham Set, Hot Chocolate Stripe/Brown Cane because he said that it reminded him of our beach umbrella and he OH SO LOVES the beach!

    I like the multi-stripe reversable comforter, and I would make-over my 12 year old daughter’s room. We have experienced financial difficulty and she has had to go without so much. It’s hard to provide for three children and our oldest has done without sometimes even the basics. Her birthday is coming up and it would be awesome to be able to surprise her with such a gift.

    I love the Pink Stitch comforter! It would look great in my girls’ room. I love that it has texture, but the solid color would allow lots of cool accessorizing.

    Oh my boys would LOVE the camo bedding. I think the brown stripe rug would go well with that. The black tractor-style task chairs would work wonderfully in both of their rooms as well.

    Your Zone Reversible Comforter in the Blue Wave/Cobalt would be my sons choice.

    I would be making over my 17 year old son’s room. He just finally got his own room ( his sister moved out) and well it’s a bit girly and in serious need of a masculine touch. He wants it to be “dorm” like, “loft” like – his own space.
    This would be an awesome way to make that happen.

    I graduated college, so I’m not actually a teen…
    But wish I was again…the real world is so mean.

    I work and work all day long, then go home and try to relax
    Too bad my pay check is so low when they take out all that tax.

    I wish I had more cash flow so I could pay off my student loan,
    Some other things would help a lot, like cool stuff from Your Zone.

    My bedroom’s small, but that’s ok I’m happy just the same
    But the furniture is falling apart; it kind of is a shame.

    It’s white (or was) and pretty old despite my weekly clean,
    Parents bought it when I was five, so it’s lost all the sheen.

    From PA to Florida I trucked it down in a big ‘ole rental cart,
    Would love to replace it from Your Zone stuff from my neighborhood Wal-Mart!

    I would buy a new comforter, Purple Dot and Berry.
    And Racy Pink sheets to make my bedroom extra bright and merry!

    My bedroom also serves as my new blogging spot,
    But creative motivation is hard with the furniture I’ve got.

    Would love to sit in a real chair, instead of bean bag foam,

    I really love the “Your Zone Reversible Comforter & Sham Set, Aqua Geo/Iris”. I love that it has all my favorite colors in it, but that you can also make it a little less busy when you flip to the solid color. I would make over my bedroom. My apartment is small and the painting is aweful! I’m trying to make my bedroom my sanctuary, but it is very hard to do…this would help a lot!

    I would choose the Black and White Polka Dot Comforter Set for my daughter’s room! She is 13 and Black and White are her favorite colors!

    My favorite comforter is the Multi Stripe/Skylight one. It would totally match my newly painted room. 🙂 I would buy a few of the Your Zone items for my room and save the rest of the monies for my future home! 😀

    If I won the giftcard, my girls would love the speaker headboards. They have never had headboards and then to have soem with speakers for thier music would be awesome!

    Dawn, Wow~! I didn’t know Walmart had this line…it’s fun! I think I’d do bedding for my son, Andrew. His doesn’t really go with the rest of his room, has a few tears in the shams even! Or maybe Cami’s room, she’d go nuts! Thanks for the opportunity.

    My favorite bedspread is the Your Zone Reversible Comforter and Sham Set, Olive/Camo Your Zone Reversible Comforter and Sham Set, Olive/Camo. I would LOVE to win this! I would make over my boys’ bedroom. They are 5 and 3 and their bedroom is still decorated in the nursery stuff from when they were babies!! 🙂

    I really like the Your Zone Comforter, Black and White Geo. My daughter just turned 13 and needs a room a lot more grown up than she’s in now. What was cute when she was 5 is now “babyish” at 13. I’d love to redo her room in something more suited to teens than toddlers; time to retire the tiny twin bed that I painted and decorated with princess decals when she turned 3.
