Our family drives about 50 minutes in each direction to church on Sundays. That may sound crazy, but actually it can be very relaxing (I take a lot of naps on the way to and from church) or productive (I’ve done lesson planning, reading, blog writing, even watching a movie on the laptop). Recently we’ve added a new family hobby, letterboxing, to the Sunday afternoon drive home.
I posted recently about the mother/son outing for our homeschool group and how we chose letterboxing as this year’s theme. We’re finding this to be a wonderful activity for our busy family, a great way to reconnect. We work as a team to follow the clues and find the box, and then have a fun time hiking or playing when we’re finished!
Sounds good. Time to do more of what you want. Just goes to show that those who want to attend church.. Just will. Nothing stops them. Long drives or a large family.
Psst I don’t know how to change your address on my bloglines.
Great idea. We, too, drive 50 miles to and from church each week, and I really enjoy the catching up Jay and I do on these drives. I always carry a big paper bag of books that I circulate so the girls can read, but I get horribly carsick, so it is just talking for me. 🙂
I hope to be able to come to Atlanta sometime this summer…maybe late summer.
What a cool idea!! I am off to look at that website. Our boys (and Katie too) would love that!!
That is a fantastic idea! A friend recently got us into geocaching and we, too love the adventure!
I hear that letterboxing thing is way fun! Let us know how it goes.
I want to try letterboxing with our kids. I think they would thoroughly enjoy it from what I hear. But not sure what all is involved or if we should wait to try it until our youngest (1 1/2) is a bit older.
