My 2-year-old looked at me, baffled, and said, “She don’t have any horses, Mommy. She don’t have any horses in her hands.”

sweet girls…yes, squirmy Lily tried to get away from me last night!! The blanket over the head trick worked…are her ears still ringing after our musical fiesta??

It reminds me of our vacation a few weeks ago. We spent the week horseback riding. We were always in groups of several people (and horses, of course) and sometimes we’d need to stop for some reason. What do you think our wrangler would shout at those moments? “Hold your horses!” We knew we had to make our horses STOP so that we wouldn’t get too far ahead. Finally, we all knew what that term meant!

I’ve an example too. My grandson turned five yesterday, His party was held Friday night, three days before he was literally five.
At the table, around a crowd of people, when we sang “happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Dominic, happy birthday to you,” we attached the “how old are you now” part of the song. He looked puzzled for a minute as if he couldn’t let everyone down because they were with him to share his 5th party. A second later his face changed to excitement. He solved his dilemma by telling them what to him was the truth. “Well actually,” he said, as if letting them in on a secret, “I am still only four, but I WLL Be five on Monday!”
How cute is that. He couldn’t be untruthful in his own little mind.
